    How to measure contact angle in high temperature environment?

    一. What is high temperature contact angle? Why measure it?

           Contact angle is an important parameter to characterize the wettability of liquid and solid surface. Especially in high

    temperature industrial fields (such as metallurgy, ceramics, welding, glass manufacturing, etc.), the wetting behavior of

    materials in high temperature molten state directly affects product quality and process optimization. For example, the 

    wettability of molten metal and furnace wall in metallurgical process determines the scale formation speed, and the 

    wettability of solder in welding process is directly related to welding strength.


          However, high temperature environment has strict requirements on measurement equipment, which needs to take into 

    account high temperature stability, vacuum compatibility, precise temperature control and anti-interference imaging

    1. Core measurement method

    optical system and calculate the contact angle.

    ② Hanging drop method: suitable for synchronous measurement of surface tension of high-temperature melts, and analyzes 

    surface tension and contact angle by fitting the droplet profile.

    ③ Dynamic analysis: Real-time monitoring of the effect of temperature changes on wettability, such as SDC-1500 supports

    2. High-temperature environment control
